God does not delay to hear our prayers because He has no mind to give;
but that, by enlarging our desires, He may give us the more largely.
We do not exalt God to create distance between us but actually to draw us closer. We are creating more room for God to say how wonderful we are.

And so, to begin with, you might ask yourself, “Did I have a father with whom I felt safe?” and, “Did I know I was prized by my father?” “Was I invited to be a boy, did I get to live a boy’s life as it was meant to be?” You might even want to write out your answers to those questions, especially the follow-up question, “Why . . . or why not?” Tell your story, at least to yourself, and to God.
If we bring fear into the equation, love is going to leave. Fear casts out love. People eventually rebel when motivated by fear; love keeps us motivated.
Paul tells us to pray without ceasing. He wasn’t encouraging us to constantly read over our prayer lists. Prayer is communicating with God, not just to Him.
When we see that we have a loving Father who loves to give good gifts, we will have joy in our prayer lives. God is ready to give more than we deserve.
