You Are Better Than You Think

You are Better Than You Think

    God’s Words to You

If you spend anytime in prayer listening to the words God speaks to you, you will know He thinks very highly of you. “Kevin, I love you,” are usually the first words I hear Him speak. If you keep listening, you will begin to think you are listening in on a conversation with Paul, Abraham, Peter, David, or someone really important. The things He says about you are typically reserved for powerful leaders or amazing people.

Oftentimes people give up listening to God because they are afraid they are becoming conceited or there’s no way that God could be saying that about me. The truth is God thinks very highly of you.

“You are more than a conqueror” (Romans 8:37).

“You can do all things through Christ that strengthen you” (Philippians 4:13).

“You are the salt and the light of the world” (Matthew 5:13-16).

“You are an ambassador of Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:20).

    Why Do We Question God?

We can read these phrases in the Bible and generalize them away as speaking to the church as a whole and not just ourselves. But, if God speaks these same aggrandizing words to us in prayer, why do we question if it is really Him?

The last post on Why We Exalt Him hit on this topic. Too often we create separation from God and ourselves. We try to put ourselves down trying to make God look better. But that is not an accurate view.

God is trying to tell us how great we are. He wants us to know that we have in us the stuff to make a positive impact on this world. And, the more we don’t believe this, we are sabotaging God’s plan of redemption for your area of influence.

Some people’s theology would be radically changed if they just listened to what God was saying about them.

God may hate sin, but He has completely removed it from you on the cross. We say we believe that when God looks at us He sees Jesus, but we don’t believe it when we look at ourselves. God has put in you all you need, and He has removed everything that would keep you from attaining your destiny. The one thing that is left to overcome is our view of ourselves. Are you ready to overcome it?
