Life is Hard
Life is hard. I don’t like to admit that. I believe my words are powerful, and I don’t want to make things worse through that admission. However, it is true. Things happen. Each of us have had times of either health issues, financial problems, or relational strains. Sometimes we have had all three at one time.
While we believe that Jesus came that we may have abundant life, life doesn’t always seem abundant. While we believe we have overcome the world, we often feel that the world is pressing in on every side challenging our beliefs. How do we respond?
Life is Hard But God is Good
This is where prayer comes in.
But, prayer is much more than registering our complaints to God. God knows what we are going through; He doesn’t need us to recap the problems to Him. Prayer is pulling His all-surpassing power into our present situation.
As we read Psalms, we see that prayer is an acknowledgement of what is going on with a constant reminder about what God has promised us and who He is. Oftentimes prayer is bringing ourselves back to the belief that God is still in control.
Life may be hard, but that is not the end of our story. Many of us have let life kill off our hopes and dreams. We no longer believe good can come. This should not be.
Life is Hard – But You Can Overcome
We have the same power that raised Jesus from the dead living in us. Satan is trying all he can to get us to lose sight of this fact. He is the one who wants us to lose hope. God wants us to believe and have faith. We will defeat our enemy and overcome in our lives when we hang onto God’s promises in the face of no hope.
Abraham was already old before he received God’s promise, and he had to wait almost 25 years for a son. He became the father of our faith because he didn’t give up. Mary believed the angel even though she knew what he told her was impossible. David held on to the promise that he would be king even though he spent ten years of running from Saul.

Life is Hard But Prayer is Powerful
While life may be hard, your prayers are powerful. Hang onto the promises of God and don’t lose hope. Prayer is reminding yourself and God of His goodness and how His goodness can change everything. Pray into the difficulties of life with what it could look like if God showed up.
Remember those things that bring you life. Reawaken your dreams and live fully alive to God. You cannot be beaten by the hardships of life; you have the Holy Spirit. The world needs what you have to offer… what you have to offer through the power of the Holy Spirit. Because with God, nothing is impossible.
