The Bible is full of resources to strengthen your prayers. God wants this for you, so He has left many treasures for you to find. While this is not a complete list, these 10 Bible verses will strengthen your prayers and give you confidence in your time with Him.
I encourage you to get out some index cards and put these verses to memory. You will want them quick in your mind and deep in your heart. These are cornerstone verses God wants you to know to encourage you to come to Him. He wants to be with you. He loves you.
These 10 Bible Verses
Will Strengthen Your Prayers
1. James 4:8a
Come near to God and He will come near to you.
This reminds us that we love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). We have confidence when we come to God that He wants to be with us. We can’t attempt to be with God and not have an expectation that He will make Himself known. He has promised to come!
2. 1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
I like this verse because we can become not affected by love. We may know God loves us but still not know what this means. Here, God requests that we tell Him what is bothering us, because He cares for everything about us. Our pain may be nothing but whining compared to His pain on the cross, but He doesn’t compare it. He sees the one He loves hurting and wants us to share that pain with Him.
3. Romans 8:32
He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?
God wants to lavish on us the riches of His grace (Ephesians 1:7-8). No good thing will He withhold from us (Psalm 84:11). Sometimes we think we are not good enough, or spiritual enough, to get certain things from God. This isn’t how God views you. He longs to bless you.
4. Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
The Old Testament showed a lot of timidity about approaching God. He was super holy, so you might die if you approached Him with even the smallest infraction. Jesus’ death on the cross removes that fear. He made a way for you. He longs for you to be with Him.
5. Matthew 7:11
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!
God does not give bad gifts! Every good gift is from our Heavenly Father (James 1:17). We don’t have to worry about Him trying to teach us a lesson with bad gifts. He trains, corrects, and teaches us with complete perfect love. He only knows how to give good gifts, so ask away!
6. John 14:14
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
We often try to explain this verse away because it seems so outrageous, but it is what Jesus said. The only limits we have in prayer are the ones that we bring. Will we take Jesus at His word? What will we ask Him for?
7. Romans 8:26
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
There are times when we don’t know what to pray, but we know we should pray. We want to pray, but we may not know what would be best to say. Take comfort because the Holy Spirit in us knows the heart of God and will help us to pray. Sometimes our best prayers are just sitting with God in silence and He takes the cares of our heart into His care.
8. Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Things happen that we will never fully comprehend. There is tragedy in this world that can cause deep pain. Even if we can’t imagine how prayer can help, we are still invited to come to God. He may not give us the understanding we think we need, but He has promised peace, which is what will keep us safe in God.
9. James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
While we may not always get understanding, God also promises wisdom – wisdom to know how to move forward after disappointment, wisdom to accept mystery, wisdom to hang onto faith, etc. The bottomline is we still have much to go to God for especially when doubt and confusion are closing in on us. God has what we need and gives it generously.
10. Matthew 7:7-8
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
The thing to remember with prayer is God’s deep longing to answer. Ask and it will be given; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened. Believe and not doubt (James 1:6). Expect God to answer you. He is a good Father. He doesn’t want you in a dark room talking to the ceiling; He wants to come and build that relationship that He sent His Son to the cross to pay for. He has invested too much not to come when you pray.
I hope you find these verses encouragement to your prayers. Prayer is our connection to God. It develops that relationship He is longing to give you. It is our source of life because it connects us to the Giver of Life.
I’d love to hear what other verses you find specifically helpful. Feel free to share in the comments. May your prayers be a continued source of encouragement to you.

*Romans 10 vs 11*
Whoever believes in Him will not be dissapointed.
He is a promise keeping God, and this verse motivates me knowing i will not be dissapointed.
Praise the Lord hallelujah, Jesus Christ is Lord. You have created a hunger for more of God`s Word in me. I really appreciate all the ten verses. May the God of glory, favour and mercy through the Holy Spirit keep on revealing more verses to you for our spiritual growth. They are an encouragement to my prayers. Glory be to God. I find this verse specifically helpful: 1 John 4:4 NKJV “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world”.
Thank you for these encouraging points to remind us of God’s super-abundant love for us and His DESIRE to answer us when we pray to Him!!!
God also assures His children that there is NO LIMIT TO HIS LOVE for us in Romans 8:37-39 . . . . .
*But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. *For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, *nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Thank you. Good to be reminded of the Word. I appreciate your writing.

Isaiah 54:13
I didn’t know how to walk with God when my son was young. I started to know how to walk with God since 2016. At this time, my son was already a young man. I regretted those years that I didn’t live and teached my son God’s way. Now, I am hanging on this verse praying for my son.
So appreciative of these verses. Helping to build my prayer life.
Thank You for the spiritual help and guidance these notes give, also the added boost in confidence we all need
in these troublesome times.
John 14:14
You may ask me for ANYTHING in my name and I will do it.
Nothing is impossible with Him
