There is an unusual account about Paul’s travels to Jerusalem (Acts 21:10-14). A prophet Agabus tells Paul that he will be bound and handed over to the Gentiles. Then with other believers pleads with Paul not to go to Jerusalem. Paul would not be dissuaded because he had already been compelled by the Spirit to go to Jerusalem (Acts 20:22).
He eventually does get bound and handed over to the Gentile and shipped to Jerusalem. And because of this we all benefit because a majority of his writings occur during the new found free time in prison. If Paul heard the words of Agabus and interpreted it out of fear, we would have missed out on much of Paul’s theology and teaching.
We also need to have God interpret our situations. The circumstances in our world may look bad or good, but Jesus alone has the right to interpret them. Jesus said He is the truth (John 14:6). Therefore truth is whatever Jesus says is true. If we live out of any other interpretation, it will lead us down the wrong path.
Such as timely message Kevin. This is one we need to keep in the forefront of our minds daily.
Tricia, thank you for your encouragement. It is so hard to not judge our circumstances on our own. This is also an important reminder to me. We need to be sensitive to what Jesus is telling us.
Thanks,
Kevin
