Understanding Your Access to His Presence
One of the most important questions a Christian can ask is incredibly simple: Can I really come to God? Many believers know Jesus died for their sins, yet still imagine God keeping them at a distance. They believe they’re forgiven enough to reach heaven someday, but not accepted enough to enjoy God’s presence today.
This leads to striving with God: trying to earn God’s attention through better behavior, longer prayers, or more Bible reading. But the book of Hebrews offers a different perspective on our access to God. Jesus didn’t just make forgiveness possible; He made God accessible. Every barrier that once separated us from the Father has been removed (Hebrews 10:19–20).
This is the heartbeat behind the song “Enter In.” The opening verse declares: “You tore through the curtain, You opened the way, Inviting me closer You whisper, ‘Come and stay.'” Jesus didn’t just forgive you – He welcomed you.
The hardest part of entering God’s presence is not convincing Him to receive you. It’s believing He already has.
Why Christians Still Feel Distant From God
Even sincere believers often struggle to approach God confidently. They replay failures, rehearse sins, and assume God is disappointed. The enemy whispers lies: “You should wait until you fix yourself… God is frustrated with you… You’ve gone too far.”
These lies create a distance God never intended.
Many imagine God tolerating them. They may get into heaven someday, but God still keeps them at arm’s length until they “prove” their faithfulness. But Hebrews counters this false narrative. God is not waiting for you to become acceptable. He removed every obstacle before asking anything of you.
I wrote this line to remind myself of this truth: “The veil is torn forever, and now my life begins; Into the Holy Place where Your love invites me in.” We are not sneaking into God’s presence. We are invited to boldly come (Hebrews 4:16).
Jesus Removed the Barrier: The Veil Is Gone
In the Old Testament, God’s holiness required separation from sin. The Most Holy Place was hidden behind a thick veil. Only the high priest could enter with a blood sacrifice and only once a year (Hebrews 9:6–7). The veil symbolized the separation between God and man.
But when Jesus died, the veil was torn from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51). God Himself removed the barrier.
Jesus became the perfect sacrifice and the eternal High Priest (Hebrews 9:11–12). What was once reserved for one man on one day is now available to every believer every day (Hebrews 10:19–22). This is why the song proclaims:
“You carried my weakness, You stood in my place,
The Great High Priest who calls me to the throne of grace.
You tore through the curtain, You opened the way,
Inviting me closer You whisper, ‘Come and stay.'”
You are not entering a courtroom where your failures are examined; you are entering a sanctuary where Jesus has prepared you to be received.
Why Jesus Is Better Than Anything You’re Trusting In
One of the most repeated words in Hebrews is “better.” Jesus is better than angels, better than Moses, better than Joshua, better than the priests, better than the sacrifices, and better than the old covenant.
He didn’t improve the old system… He fulfilled it. He didn’t just offer a better sacrifice… He became the final sacrifice. He didn’t provide another priest… He became the eternal High Priest interceding on our behalf.
Everything about Jesus surpasses your expectations. Each of these other things were just a shadow of what was to come. They were given as examples to stretch our understanding. But the reality is even greater.
You Needed More Than Forgiveness; You Needed Freedom
One of the most powerful lines in the song says: “I needed more than forgiveness; I needed sin destroyed.”
Forgiveness restores relationship, but Jesus did more… He broke sin’s power. You are not a forgiven sinner trying to survive. You are a new creation, raised with Christ, no longer defined by your failures, and no longer condemned to fail.
You are free to say yes to God and no to what once controlled you.
Come Boldly: How to Approach God With Confidence
Hebrews 4:16 urges us to “approach the throne of grace with confidence.” This confidence doesn’t come from performance. It comes from Jesus’ perfect sacrifice. There is no wrath left for us who believe.
Coming boldly means praying as if God is listening, speaking as if He is near, and expecting Him to respond. We often complicate prayer, forgetting God simply wants relationship.
Start by acknowledging He is already present. Talk to Him openly. Listen for His voice. Rest in His love.
The chorus proclaims what we believe: “I choose to enter in — no fear can keep me out. Your blood has spoken louder than any of my doubt.”
Your confidence is not in yourself. It’s in Jesus.
God’s Presence Heals What You Cannot Fix Alone
Years ago, I walked through one of the darkest seasons of my life. After my wife discovered my struggle with pornography, our marriage nearly collapsed. I felt ashamed, broken, and unsure of our future.
During that season, I spent countless hours with God. I didn’t really feel direction or Him speaking, but I did feel there was hope. Hope that He still loved me, that He had a future for me, and that He wasn’t finished with our story.
His presence didn’t erase the hardship, but it renewed my heart and gave me strength to keep moving forward. More than twenty years later, our marriage is strong, our family is thriving, and God has written a story we never could have imagined.
His presence changes everything.

Enter In: God Is Not Distant. He Is Near
One of the greatest lies the enemy tells is that God is distant. Hebrews declares the opposite: God has come near. The door is open. The invitation is extended.
Every time you pray, worship, or open Scripture, you are not trying to convince God to accept you. You are responding to the invitation He already gave. You don’t have to try to prove yourself. You can receive freely what God has for you.
A Simple Invitation: Come Boldly Into God’s Presence
If you’ve been waiting until you feel worthy enough to approach God, stop waiting. Jesus has already made you welcome. You are the joy that was set before Him as He endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2). His sacrifice is more than sufficient (Hebrews 10:12–14). His invitation still speaks: Come.
Spend time with Him. Talk with Him sincerely. Rest in His presence.
You may discover what countless believers have learned: His eyes are kinder than you imagined, His words are sweeter than you expected, and His joy at your arrival greater than you believed possible.
Don’t wait. Enter in.

Lyrics for Enter In
ENTER IN
[Verse 1]
You spoke through the prophets, but now through Your Son,
The radiance of glory, the Holy and Anointed One.
You carried my weakness, You stood in my place,
The Great High Priest who calls me to the throne of grace.
You tore through the curtain, You opened the way,
Inviting me closer You whisper, “Come and stay.”
[Pre-Chorus]
The veil is torn forever, and now my life begins;
Into the Holy Place where Your love invites me in.
[Chorus]
I choose to enter in — no fear can keep me out.
Your blood has spoken louder than any of my doubt.
You’re greater than the shadows, greater than my sin.
You call, and I come running —
I will enter in.
[Verse 2]
Greater than the angels, greater than the Law,
You’re the better promise every shadow stood in awe.
I needed more than forgiveness, I needed sin destroyed.
You stood where I have stood, yet walked out victorious.
You’re the joy set before me, the One my soul adores,
The Love who calls me forward through the everlasting doors.
[Verse 3]
You’re the Priest like Melchizedek, eternal in Your reign,
The anchor for my wandering heart, the hope that still remains.
You discipline with kindness, You lead me through the fire,
Surrounded by the faithful ones who lift my faith up higher.
You call me to listen, to trust and believe,
To walk by faith in everything You promise to me.
[Bridge]
No more fear, no more distance — Your kingdom can’t be shaken.
Your voice is calling gently, and my heart is awakened.
You say, “Come boldly near Me,” and how could I say no?
The God who gave me everything, and loves me more than I could know.
[Outro]
Into the holy place where
Your love invites me in.
I come running – I will enter in
Into the holy place
Where Your love invites me in.
I come running.
I will enter in.
