Let Start Daily Declarations
Last week we looked at the importance of having daily declarations. Through declarations you can co-create with God, focus on solutions rather than problems, transform your mind, and activate your faith. Declarations start you on an exciting adventure with God where there are no limits because there is nothing God will not do for you (Romans 8:32).
This week we will go over about what daily declarations can look like in practice. You will obviously want to configure these suggestions to match your personality and needs, but these two ways to have daily declarations can prepare you for your amazing adventure with God.
1. Speaking Truth Over Yourself
The early church tapped into the power of declarations with the creeds. The Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed are both declarations of belief. It was a memory tool as well as transforming the mind to get it to believe truth over lies.
What People are Currently Saying
People make declarations all the time. Unfortunately what they are saying is not beneficial to them or often to those around them. Start listening to what people are actually saying. Have you heard any of these:
- I’m so stupid.
- My kids drive me crazy.
- I’m always messing things up.
- Whatever bad can happen will happen. – Murphy’s Law
- Nothing goes right for me.
- Nobody likes me.
- My kids always embarrass me.
- Our house is a whirlwind.
- My boss is evil.
- I will never overcome this addiction.
These Declarations are Lies
We may think we are being funny or humble, but these statements create our views of the world. And, these statements are not what God says is true.
Those declarations may feel true, but the reason we need daily declarations is to train our minds to realize what God says is true is the Christian’s reality.
Create Declarations That God Wants for You
Listen to your words. Notice when you say something or agree to something that God would not say. Write it down if you need. Then ask God what He says is true. Whatever He gives you or whatever verse that comes to mind should go as a daily declaration until you believe it.
Here are some examples to get you started:
- God created me and He doesn’t make mistakes. Therefore I am beautiful, smart, and likable. With God’s help, I can do everything that He gives me to do.
- I choose to like myself, because God likes me. There is greatness God placed in me that only I can give to my world.
- God has placed people in my life who love me for who I am. I will allow them to love me and I will love them.
- Nothing can hold me back from who God created me to be and doing what God created me to do. I will keep getting back up after every stumble refusing to give up because Jesus said I am worth it.
- My kids are gifts and blessings. I have the power to release life over them. They are worth every effort of time, thought, and struggle I give to them. I will joyfully serve them and love them so that they will wholeheartedly love themselves and know God is glad He made them.
- God wants me to succeed. Since He is for me, as long as I continue to press on, nothing will keep me from success.
- God had something specific in mind when He created me, so as I pursue Him, I have an amazing adventure ahead.
- All day today, no matter where I am or what I am doing, God will be with me, loving me, helping me, and enjoying my presence.
- Knowing God loves me, I am open to whatever He wants to do.

2. Singing Truth Over Yourself
Another great way to make declarations is through song. Singing along to good worship songs verbalizes truth which make that truth more real to you. It can change your countenance and renew your hope.
It is Well – Horatio Spafford
The well-known hymn, It is Well, is a result of making a declaration after a very traumatic event in Horatio Spafford’s life. He lost his son and most of his wealth in the Chicago fire of 1871. Shortly afterward, he sent his family ahead of him to England. Unfortunately their ship sank and his four daughters drowned. It was on his ship headed to comfort his wife that he wrote, “It is Well.”
This was his declaration over his circumstances:
When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to know
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Miracles – Chris Quilala
For a more contemporary example, Jesus Culture’s new album has the song Miracles written by Chris Quilala. This song comes out of tough season for him and his wife. He explains the story behind the song on the band’s Facebook post:
Miracles is a song about choosing to believe the truth that God is who He says He is. In December of 2014, my wife and I lost our baby boy. As my wife labored in the hospital room we were praying and believing for God to do a miracle. We did not see our son come back to life, and as we held him in our arms we had a choice,
to believe God is good all the time
and no matter the outcome He is and will always be the God of miracles
Often times as believers we allow our circumstances to change our perceptions of God. The truth is that He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. The journey of faith is full of mystery.
My wife and I could be stuck going around in circles asking God why we didn’t see the miracle we had hoped for. Instead of doubting God in the face of contrary circumstances we chose to move towards Him, to trust Him and to hold on to Him even more tightly. If you need a miracle in your life don’t lose hope! Continue to believe and have faith to see impossibilities bow at His name. Our God is the God of miracles.

Renew Your Mind Through Declaration
Take these ways to have daily declarations and implement them into your daily times with God. Jesus said if we hold to His teachings, the truth will set us free (John 8:31-32). There is no better way to train your mind to hold to His teachings than to make declarations.
