Christmas is about the birth of birth of Jesus. It’s His birthday, but most of the presents are not for Him. Have you ever thought what would Jesus like for His birthday?
We may think large scale. He wants peace on earth. He wants us all to love each other. He wants us to be as one as He and the Father are one. While that is great, that is a hard gift to give Him.
What is something practical we can give Jesus this Christmas?
I believe one thing Jesus loves about Christmas is how so many more people start singing about Him. Christmas carols are on the radio, in the stores, on the streets, in schools, on TV, everywhere. They are being sung by kids, by adults, and by people we don’t want to be Christians. Just yesterday I listened to Christmas music by Barry Manilow (he is a Jew).
I believe all these carols make Jesus happy, even if it is the only time of year some people think about Him. “Welcome Home.” We are made to worship Jesus. Sure some of the songs are childish, but some are pure worship. O Come All Ye Faithful, Holy Night, Joy to the World, and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen are just some of the few amazing songs commonly sung every Christmas. This Christmas set aside some time to sing carols with your family. Worship the birthday boy. I believe it is what He wants.
On your feet now—applaud God!
Bring a gift of laughter,
sing yourselves into his presence. – Psalm 100:1-2
