When Are Going to Learn Jesus Loves Us?
Earlier this week I posted a funny video that parodied how many view God’s thoughts toward them. While the video was humorous, it is sad that many feel truth in it. They feel that God is pointing out their every sin and pointing out that they will never measure up. How miserable that must be?
When are we going to learn that God loves us? The reason Jesus came and died on the cross was not to make us feel bad and try to get us to change. He came because He loved us so much that He wanted every obstacle removed that was keeping us from knowing that love. Therefore now there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). All guilt, shame, and punishment has been removed – even if you still sin!
God Still Loves You Even When You Sin
Once we learn that God is no longer mad at our sin and disobedience, we can then have confidence to explore why we keep turning from Him. We can freely explore our hearts and motivations without fearing we will scare God with what we find there. Or, wonder what He will do with us if there is something too ugly.
God is head over heels in love with you. You can just finish sinning, and if you listen closely enough, you will hear God say, “you’re amazing”. You try to confess your sins, and He interrupts you to tell you how much He loves you. You can be having a terrible day and still feel God smiling over you.
Do you feel like this is too good to be true? Go back to the parable of the prodigal son. How much of his confession did he get out before the father received him? God has incredible thoughts about you. You are His hearts desire.
