    I believe that Christians should pray for healing. If we are going to say we believe the Bible, then placing our trust in God should naturally overflow. However, I understand the fear. We don’t want to presume upon God and give people false hope.

    Still, the Bible gives us examples where those of faith looked to God for their own healing and the healing of others. Let’s look at a few:

    Bible Verses on Prayers for Healing

    Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed;
        save me and I will be saved,
        for you are the one I praise.
    Jeremiah 17:14
    But I will restore you to health
        and heal your wounds,’
    declares the Lord,
    ‘because you are called an outcast,
        Zion for whom no one cares.’
    Jeremiah 30:17
    Lord my God, I called to you for help,
        and you healed me.
    Psalm 30:2
    for I am the Lord, who heals you.
    Exodus 15:26

    But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
    the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed.
    Isaiah 53:5

    Jesus Heals Peter’s Mother-in-Law from Fever
    The whole town gathered at the door, and Jesus healed many who had various diseases.
    Mark 1:33-34
    Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.

    When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

    And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well;

    Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health
    and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
    3 John 1:2
    Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
        for his compassions never fail.
    They are new every morning;
        great is your faithfulness.
    Lamentations 3:22-23

    Things to Remember when Praying for Healing

    As I read those Bible verses on healing, I come away with a greater awareness of God’s desire to heal. He is the restorer of all things and loves His creation. I am also left with an awareness that there are things God wants us to do. There are many things God wants to do but is waiting on someone to pray for.

    With this in mind, it is God that heals. We do not have the power apart from God’s spirit living in us. It is not a skill we earn or something left for the professional Christians. God is looking for those with faith to believe what He has said.

    I will give you a sample healing prayer, but the power is not in the words; it is an expression of faith in a God that heals and wants to heal. Having faith is more than saying the words of prayer. Continue to pray and be persistent. Jesus death on the cross was sufficient to overcome all the works of sin, death, and satan. Your prayers are effective. Let’s reach out to others in the name of Jesus and bring hope and healing to our world.

    Sample Healing Prayer

    Heavenly Father, I thank You for my friend. You created her in Your likeness, and You love her. I thank You that You love her more than I do and You desire good for her more than I do. Therefore I come to You knowing You want to touch her in a significant way today.

     

    Father, thank You for empowering me with You Holy Spirit. And, I pray that my hands with be the hands of Jesus. I release the power of Jesus to fill her – mind, body, and spirit. I release all of Your goodness to penetrate her body driving out of her all that is not of You.

     

    In the name of Jesus, Father heal my friend. May all effects of the Corona virus leave her body, right now. Father, I ask that You lower her temperature and revive her body.

     

    God, thank You for loving my friend. Thank You for touching her life and bringing Your healing. We love You.

    Final Thoughts

    After you pray, ask your friend how they feel. This question strengthens your friends faith as you expect God to answer your prayers. However, don’t be discouraged if they don’t notice anything different. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and thank them for letting you pray.

    It’s an honor to get to pray with others. Those you pray for are often encouraged that you would take the time to offer such a gift. You are blessed to have the privilege of partnering with God. It’s very much like sharing your faith – you may not see immediate fruit, but God was glorified in the process.

    1. Thank you for this. My mom and I have serious health issues that we need healing from. No doctors can find what’s wrong, and they don’t care to help. But the conditions greatly disable us and can be life threatening because of the symptoms. I worry more about my mom than I do about me, as hers have very scary symptoms that sometimes warrant her going to the ER, though she resists going. And I’m slowly starving as a result of mine. God seems to be telling me alot lately to keep praying and be persistent, expecting healing. It’s hard, though, and we feel so alone in this. We pray daily for each other, though I find it hard for the two sick people to be the effective healing agents in the process. Will you pray for us? I truly appreciate it.

        Tlhe Blood of Jesus speaks. Comfort their spirits Holy Spirit. We stand before you with open hearts. We love you Lord. We rejoice because you hear each of our prayers first. In the Name of Jesus. Amen

      2. I have prayed for you. You and your mum ARE healed in Jesus name! Receive your healing as you get better day by day, and feed on the word of God which is life and health to your bones, until you are completely healed. Jeremiah 33:6 – God brings healing.
        Pray for God’s will to be done on for you here on earth, as it is in heaven-there is no sickness in heaven. Be blessed.

    2. I am thankful that God knows what we need before we need it. I thank him for his sovereignty and for His Grace and Mercies that are new every morning and that He is an all powerful, all knowing and all seeing God. I thank him for his faithfullness in all of our lives, it’s morning by morning your new mercies we see and I am so thankful that our God doesn’t and never skips a beat and is in complete control. We are the healed of the Lord and the freed of the Lord. We are no longer bound my chains and held in captivity to sin or poor health or lack or impoverishment, but we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and as Jesus is in mind, body, soul and spirit, so are we in this world. Thank you for your servants heart to reach and teach the children of God and for bringing others into the fold, through your ministry of sharing and educating about the Love of Christ Jesus our Lord. Well done good and faithful servants! You will be Greatly rewarded in .Jesus name. Amen
