God Wants to Give You Life

God Wants to Give You Life

This is the second part of Trisha Cwir’s guest series on the secret place. She a good friend of our family and a board member of our non-profit, Josiah’s Covenant. These next five posts come from a talk she gave at Catch the Fire Ottawa, which she leads with her husband. I know you will enjoy these and believe they will enrich your relationship with God.

    ————————

Since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen and understood from what has been made so that people are without excuse. – (Romans 1:20)

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and the tow will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery but I am talking about Christ and the Church. – (Ephesians 5:30-32)

Marriage Can Teach Us About the Secret Place

Now if you take these two Scriptures you see that if what is created is actually expressing the character and nature of God, and then Paul is saying here that the man and woman is the mystery of Christ and the Church. Than we can learn so much about what it looks like to have a relationship with God by looking at the relationship between a man and a woman. And Paul is saying that there.

And I just want to say that there is one thing that married people would do. That they would go behind doors and shut the door. And this intimacy and this secret place is a reflection of our secret place with God.

Life Comes From the Secret Place

And, just as we are not given in marriage in heaven or anything like that, there is a spiritual representation of what that looks like and what that means. And that secret place is communion with His Spirit. And that secret place is what we become one with our daddy. And that secret place is where we bear fruit. That is where we can see the very plans of God. That’s where life comes.

If we do not spend time in that secret place with God, then no life can come. We can look good on the outside, but have no life on the inside. So we got to keep that place number one. (I’m preaching to myself here, too)

We Were Made in the Secret Place

And with that, I think it is so interesting, that if you look at Psalm 139:15-16. I want to show you another verse that kind of goes along with this that is so powerful.

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be. – (Psalm 139:15-16)

So it is in the secret place that we were made. Even the conception up until the birth, the womb, that’s all a parable of our relationship with God, and how that brings forth the children, the life, in our lives.

And I just think it’s so powerful that the womb is the secret place. That’s the place that no one can touch. That’s the place hidden from the eyes of men. You can’t see the baby forming, but it is.

Time in the Secret Place Will Bear Fruit

And sometimes you are spending time in the secret place, and you’re like what is the point of this. I don’t see fruit in my life. And then maybe you’re like this is not really working. Maybe God is not putting something in me when I’m spending time with Him. And we kind of start waiting.

But I just want to tell you that sometimes it takes nine months. Sometimes it takes a long time before you see that fruit in your life from spending time with God. But I’m telling you, it is fruitful. It is the only thing that is fruitful. It is that communion with God that is what brings life more than anything.

    Trisha’s Prayer For You

Yes God. We just thank You that You sacrificed Your life so that we so that we can live with You, God. We just thank You that You sacrificed Your life on the cross so that we can live in the secret place with You, God. We just thank You so much for this secret place, God. We just ask that this will become more of our daily routine, God. We just ask that every day we would enter this secret place that You paid for, God – that you died for, God.

I just ask for the grace, the grace of God, to come upon our lives in a new way. That prayer would be magnified, God. That prayer would increase in our lives in Jesus name. We ask for a spirit of grace and supplication, God.

We ask that Your eyes would burn in our hearts so deeply, God, that we will not relent until we see Your kingdom established on earth as it is in heaven. That we would burn. That a zeal for Your house would consume us, O God. Zeal for Your house would consume us, O God. That we will not rest until You rest. That we will not rest until You rest, God.
