If you have been following this blog for awhile, you know that God likes to take us on adventures. Or at least, we move a lot and put the blame on God.
- He had me transfer schools in college.
- My wife and I moved 10x in the first 13 years of marriage.
- He had us move cross country by faith.
Well, we feel the next adventure is starting to reveal itself. As exciting as that is, that is just the back drop.
Because of this new potential adventure, I am finding it hard to pray. I want to pray more than usual, but it is hard to quiet my spirit down to listen to God. I just want Him to show me more about what’s next.
Instead of just spending time with God, I’m trying to get Him to talk. What exactly are we getting ready to do? What do I need to do to get ready? How long is this next adventure?
My desire for answers is keeping me from connecting with God.
I feel this is a common place people are with God. We desire so much for God to speak that we actually lose focus on God. God is not stressed by our emergency. Refocus on God’s goodness. Know He loves you and wants you to have the best more than you do.
REST. TRUST. ENJOY GOD.
The answers will come. Be open to them. Give time for God to speak, but don’t focus so much on them that you miss what God wants to speak about.
Amazing. I’m about to embark on a new adventure too. Like you, I want to know how it’s going to pan out, “but what about this,God? How do I do that, God? “What happens with this, God?”. My time with God ends up all about me and not much about Him.
So this is wisdom. Lets go back to the Source. Take a deep breath & let it go – God knows. Lets enjoy Him & He will tell us what we need to know in the time we need to know it.

Congratulations on your pending adventure. Life is exciting when you are open to the Spirit’s leading… even if He never makes you move as He has with me. God’s adventures stretch us to experience Him in new ways. We get to see more of His beauty and we become more like Him.
Thank you for the encouragement that I’m not alone in seeking God for wisdom instead of Him. I feel this is very common obviously in new adventures, but also when a loved one is sick, doing poorly at work/school, relationships turn sour, etc. Any of life’s dramas can either steal our focus form God or turn us more deeply on Him.
May this season of our lives turn us more deeply on the One who loves us most.
